While much of our collaborative media, design, and performance practice takes place across partners’ platforms, StudioLab also stages PLAYforms, public exhibits, workshops, and other events to share our process and work. It all began in Spring 2020, when COVID interrupted our work with local schools : however, despite being dispersed around the country and world, we Zoomed to create Make Media! resources for civic storytelling across different genres and platforms.
Recent PLAYforms have taken shape as four public exhibitions, two at MACRE Ithaca, and two at 14BC Gallery, NYC. These events connect gorgeous Tompkins County in upstate New York to gritty Tompkins Square in the East Village, two places linked by their namesake, Daniel D. Tompkins, New York Governor and 6th US Vice President.
